New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton opened up about the hit he took from safety Ashtyn Davis in Monday night's matchup against the New York Jets. It was a hard hit, and Newton says he is still feeling the impact.
Ashtyn's hit on Cam Newton came in the second quarter. At that time, the Jets were leading, 13-7, but the Patriots were looking to drive down the field. On a first-and-ten play, Davis broke through the right side of New England's offensive front, then proceeded to drill Newton with a blindside hit. Ultimately, though, this hit was flagged as roughing the passer.

Despite this hit, Newton was able to remain on the field, later running for the game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter. And though he isn't listed on the Patriots' injury report, he says he can only turn his neck so far to one side:
“My neck is only working at a degree angle that shuts off the degrees to one side,” Newton said, via Profootballtalk.com. “My eye muscles are getting a lot of work in today. . . . I told the guys on the sideline, ‘That’s my fault and I deserved it.'”
Cam Newton completed 27-of-35 passes for 274 yards in what proved to be a 30-27 win over the Jets, rushing 10 times for 16 yards and two touchdowns. It's worth noting that he completed his first 11 passes of the game. However, he hasn't thrown for a touchdown since Week 3.
With Monday night's win, the Patriots improved to 3-5 on the season. They'll be back in action on November 15, when they'll serve as hosts to the Baltimore Ravens (6-2).
