New Orleans Pelicans superstar power forward Anthony Davis has never been one to mince words, and that trend continued Wednesday afternoon.

After the Pelicans' second practice of the season, Davis told reporters he feels like he is the best player in the game and nobody can tell him otherwise.

You have to love the confidence from Davis, who had another outstanding season in 2017-18. The former No. 1 overall pick averaged 28.1 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 53.4 percent from the floor and 34.0 percent from beyond the arc. The Pelicans finally won their first playoff series in the 2018 postseason since Davis was drafted back in 2012. New Orleans swept the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round and Davis was a man among boys. In the four-game sweep, Davis posted 33.0 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.8 blocks per game.

Many experts have Davis as a top-five player in the league. Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is universally recognized as the best player in the game. Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant is a close second behind James. Slots three through five vary depending on whom you ask. Some people have Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry at No. 3. Others have Davis or Toronto Raptors swingman Kawhi Leonard. Houston Rockets guard James Harden usually rounds out the top five.

One thing is certain, though: Davis is the best big man in the NBA. He can score from the perimeter and post, is arguably the best shot blocker in the game, is a nightmare on the fast break, and has guard-like skills which allow him to create his own shot off the dribble from anywhere on the court.

Entering this season, Davis has career averages of 23.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 2.4 blocks in 410 games.
