As part of a wide-ranging interview with Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram admitted that the Lakers were a bit distracted by outside influences while he was there.

The Undefeated: Was Los Angeles too fast of a city for you?

Ingram: People get caught up about thinking outside of basketball and what comes with it. L.A. wasn’t too fast for me. But we, the team, got caught up with all the extras that come with outside of basketball.

The Undefeated: Did you get caught up in the “outside of basketball” with the Lakers?

Ingram: I actually didn’t, and I don’t know how I didn’t. I had good people around me. I had a coach, [former Lakers assistant coach] Brian Keefe, who stayed on me all the time. I had a weight room trainer who stayed on me all the time. I just had good people around me. They would tell me to keep going. No matter what is going on, keep going.

Ingram was part of a young Lakers core that was traded to the Pelicans for Anthony Davis (Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart were also part of the deal). So far, the former No. 2 overall pick is playing extremely well for his new team.

Through the first four games of this season, Ingram has racked up averages of 27.3 points on 50.0 percent shooting from the field (50.0 percent from beyond the arc), 9.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.3 blocks and just under one steal (0.8) in 34.0 minutes per outing.

Ingram and the Pelicans will be back in action on Thursday night, as they're scheduled to host the Denver Nuggets in a Halloween showdown. Tip-off inside the Smoothie King Center is set for 7:00 p.m. ET, with TNT having live broadcast coverage.
