Elfrid Payton looking forward to playing with Jrue Holiday
Elfrid Payton is not only excited about returning to his old stomping grounds after signing a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, but also to play alongside Jrue Holiday, who’s had his best season yet.
Holiday earned First Team All-Defense honors this season after developing into a lockdown shooting guard, despite his size at a mere 6-foot-4.
The longtime point man was switched to the off-guard position, allowing him to develop into a scorer and a perimeter hawk, attributes that can only help a growing defensive point guard like Payton.
“He has a lot of knowledge to give, and I’m excited to learn from him,” said Payton, according to Jim Eichenhofer of NBA.com.
If Payton can develop a consistent jump shot, it could carve the path for Holiday’s knowledge to kick in and help tap into his full potential.
The Lafayette native will have one season to prove himself and could make it count with the help of Holiday, who is quickly scaling the summit into All-Star consideration, despite a star-studded Western Conference.
