New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram just had the best performance of his career on Thursday, as he dropped a career-high 49 points to carry his team to a 138-132 overtime victory against the Utah Jazz.

It was indeed an impressive showing from the 22-year-old, which as it turns out, got his teammate, Lonzo Ball, absolutely hyped. So much so, that Ball himself started campaigning for Ingram's All-Star bid right after the contest.

Ingram was highly efficient on Thursday, going 15-of-25 from the field and 16-of-20 from the line. He also connected on three 3-pointers, while also adding eight rebounds, six assists, and a block to round out his memorable performance.

The short-handed Pelicans entered the contest as the underdogs, having to face off against a surging Jazz side that were on an astounding 10-game winning streak. As it turns out, however, Ingram and company would make sure that the streak would end tonight.

This season, Ingram has been nothing short of outstanding for New Orleans, averaging across the board career-high numbers at 25.8 points (on 48.o percent shooting), 6.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.8 blocks, while also knocking down 2.5 threes per game on a 40.6-percent clip.

Ingram has absolutely embraced his new role with the Pelicans following a summer move from the Los Angeles Lakers. The former second overall pick is obviously loving life as the team's primary option on offense, and it does not look like he has any intention of pulling back anytime soon.

With regards to Ball's claim, however, Ingram might find it difficult to squeeze into the All-Star squad considering how talent-packed the West is at the moment. He will be in contention, but he will likely miss out on the final cut.
