New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball has a whole new group of teammates he has to get acquainted with this season, but one exciting player he gets to compete with is rookie power forward Zion Williamson.

The Pelicans made Williamson the first overall selection of the 2019 NBA Draft last June, bringing the Duke stud to the Bayou. New Orleans acquired Ball along with Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart from the Los Angeles Lakers in the blockbuster Anthony Davis trade, which occurred days leading up to the draft in the offseason.

Speaking to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on the NBA reporter's podcast, the 21-year-old Ball revealed what his early impressions are from sharing the court with Williamson.

“[Williamson] thrives in both [open court and half court], honestly — pick and roll in the half court is amazing with him. You can hit him on the short roll, you don't have to wait for him to get all the way to the basket,” Ball said.

“He's much more than a dunker. He's a playmaker — I can give him the ball and he can take some dribbles, he can take off or find a man in the corner. And I've already thrown some full-court lobs, pretty much just gotta put it anywhere where the backboard is and he'll catch it.”

Williamson and Ball make up two of the many young pieces of the Pelicans' core, assembled by new executive vice president David Griffin. New Orleans has a chance to be special in the upcoming season, and Zion and Lonzo will definitely play a huge part of the team.
