New Orleans Pelicans rookie forward and No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson has signed with Jordan Brand, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Williamson had a bevy of choices to sign with ahead of the start of his first season in the league, including Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, and Puma, which has snagged plenty of notables in last year's draft.

Signing with Jordan Brand, a Nike subsidiary — immediately makes him one of the most recognizable faces in the roster, joining others like Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, and many others.

Perhaps there is no better brand to represent him than the iconic “Jumpman” — as Williamson has been known for his acrobatic, sky-defying dunks and all his ruthless blocks, which have made him a menace at both ends of the floor.

While it's unlikely the 19-year-old will have a signature shoe right away, the potential is surely there if he has a promising season, as it could quickly sky to the top sellers in a very competitive sneaker business.

Considering that he had a very notable issue while in Duke, exploding through a pair of Paul George's Nike signature sneakers — this should only reassure folks that Williamson has complete faith in Nike and its subsidiaries.

Unlike other brands, Jordan is very selective about the athletes they select to join the family — and Zion will be one that fits the mold as a rare breed of a player that has the potential to shock the world.
