The Philadelphia Phillies are preparing to head up North for a brief two-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays. As is the case with any MLB team traveling to Toronto, there will be some players unable to make the trip due to their vaccination status. According to Jim Salisbury, as many as four key Phillies players won't travel to Toronto with the team, including Aaron Nola and JT Realmuto.

While Salisbury didn't explicitly confirm that the players not traveling were unvaccinated, none of them are currently injured. So it's certainly possible that their absence in Toronto is a direct result of them not being vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Phillies will be forced to make a plethora of roster moves in order to accommodate the four missing players. Nola was not expected to feature during the series as he's pitching Monday night against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Phillies will be in Toronto on Tuesday, July 12 and Wednesday, July 13. With Ranger Suarez and Zach Eflin already on the IL, Zack Wheeler is the only remaining starting pitcher from their rotation who will be available in Toronto.

The team has yet to announce its starters for the two-game set, and fans can expect the announcement won't be made until closer to first pitch on Tuesday.

With Bryce Harper also sidelined for the Phillies, they'll be fielding a much different-looking team when they head to Canada. Fans should be on the lookout for a series of roster moves on Monday night or Tuesday morning, as the Phillies have some holes to fill amid the impending absence of four key players.
