Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons is having one of the best seasons of his seven-year career.

Despite being in the league since the 2012-13 season, Drummond is still only 25 years old, and he has blossomed into one of the game’s elite rebounders as well as the second-best player on a Detroit Pistons team that is currently in line for the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Drummond is a huge reason why the Pistons are playing so well, but Drummond humbly insists that it’s his new teammate Blake Griffin who is giving Drummond the confidence to produce his best statistical season this year.

According to a recent piece by James L. Edwards III of The Athletic:

“With that play in Atlanta, to touch on that … I’ve never had someone do that for me before. It was actually a play for him, and he told Reggie to get out and gave it to me,” Drummond told The Athletic. “For him to do that just shows the confidence he has in me to score the ball on somebody and make the right play. And when I didn’t shoot the right shot, you know, he got on me, ‘You’re stronger than him. You need to go through him.’ The next possession I came down and dunked on him. With guys like that, guys that give me confidence, we give each other confidence throughout the game, too.”

Drummond’s marquee skill is his rebounding, and this season he is tops in the NBA in rebounds per game (15.1), total rebounds (905) and offensive rebounds (307).

Beyond that, Drummond is producing the highest points per game output of his career (17.6) as well as the highest Player Efficiency Rating of his career (23.0).

Who know how far the Pistons will go in the playoffs, but with Drummond and Griffin as the team’s one-two punch, each player will be playing their best alongside one another.
