The Toronto Raptors acquired All-Star big man Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday in a blockbuster trade, and the Spaniard is reportedly very excited about joining the team.

Toronto traded Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright, C.J. Miles and a 2024 second round pick to the Grizzlies for Marc Gasol, who is a three-time All-Star and a former Defensive Player of the Year.

It's very easy to see why Gasol is thrilled about joining the Raptors. Toronto has the second-best record in the Eastern Conference at 39-16. The team now has a lethal Big Three of Kawhi Leonard, Gasol and Kyle Lowry.

Gasol is making $24,119,025 this season and has a player option worth $25,595,700 for next year. He is averaging 15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game this season while shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from beyond the arc and 75.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The 34-year-old is arguably the best player in Grizzlies franchise history, but with Memphis in rebuild mode, it was the right move to send Gasol to a contender so he can play in the postseason. The Raptors' starting lineup will now feature Lowry, Danny Green, Leonard, Gasol, and either Serge Ibaka or Pascal Siakam.
