Running back Adrian Peterson has established himself as the workhorse for the Washington Redskins. However, it appears he is still keeping tabs on the Minnesota Vikings.

It is no secret the Vikings have had some trouble getting their ground game going thus far in the 2018 NFL season. According to Nick Shook of NFL.com, their sttruggles have not gone unnoticed by Peterson:

“They've been watching and I guess saying, ‘I was wrong,' with the way they viewed me,” he said of the Vikings.

Despite the shade, Peterson still hopes to retire as a Viking when it is all said and done.

“I accomplished some great things with No. 28,” he said. “It should definitely be a number that they consider retiring on their own terms.”

There is certainly some truth to Peterson's comments. Minnesota made it clear that they were ready to move on from the veteran. Ever since then, he has essentially become a workhorse for hire.

Outside of a disastrous stint with the New Orleans Saints, he managed to post decent numbers with the Arizona Cardinals in place of running back David Johnson. He has taken on a similar role this year for Washington when running back Derrius Guice went down for the season.

Meanwhile, Minnesota has seemingly transitioned from a run-heavy offense to an air raid scheme. Although it could be attributed to the arrival of quarterback Kirk Cousins, it is magnified by the lack of production from their backfield.

Despite their recent struggles on the ground, the Vikings are confident that running back Dalvin Cook will serve as a viable replacement once he is fully healthy.
