The Houston Rockets are in complete shambles right now. Russell Westbrook has demanded a trade, and now there's some smoke suggesting James Harden wants out as well, despite his recent commitment to the franchise just last week after Westbrook's trade request. At this point, the Rockets have no choice but to explore the possibility of blowing the team up entirely — a notion that has been confirmed by Chris Mannix of SI.

Mannix acknowledged the rumor pertaining to Harden possibly making the move to the Brooklyn Nets, and how the Rockets are now keeping their options open:

James Harden is intrigued by the possibility of reuniting with Kevin Durant in Brooklyn, a league source familiar with Harden’s thinking told SI. While there have been no substantive discussions between the Nets and Rockets about a trade, Houston is evaluating its options moving forward, per sources.

A couple of important takeaways here.

First off, the report confirmed whispers pertaining to Harden's desire not only to jump ship, but also, the possibility of the former MVP joining Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving with the Nets. Admittedly, the rumor sounded out-of-this-world at the onset, but with multiple sources now confirming the possibility, it does appear  to be somewhat credible.

Secondly, this also substantiates how Houston is open to the possibility of parting ways with its longtime cornerstone superstar. They could have taken a strong position here by rejecting any and all trade inquiries on Harden, but as it seems, they're at least considering the possibility of a deal and a possible full-blown rebuild.

This shapes up to be a tough call for the Rockets when it comes down to it, though Harden could very well just make the decision for them by following in Westbrooks footsteps and demanding out. Even if he doesn't, the writing seems to be on the wall.
