Houston Rockets sign Tim Quarterman to 2-year deal
The team is likely to release forward Le’Bryan Nash, who was signed to a 10-day contract last week to replace the injured Brandan Wright, allowing the completion of the deal. Nash had yet to play a game since signing with the Rockets.
Next year’s option will allow the maximum flexibility over the offseason, in case the team hopes to use him as a trade chip or needs an extra spot to fill, having no commitment to fulfill the second year of his contract.
The 23-year-old had played 11 games with the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario in the G League, averaging 8.9 points and 5.3 assists per game.
Quarterman was with the Rockets for several weeks during training camp and was eventually signed by the Portland Trail Blazers prior to the start of the season.
He shouldn’t play even a minor part with the team, given the eventual shrinking of the rotation as the playoffs near.
