The Houston Rockets' James Harden added another notable feat to his career Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks.
The reigning Most Valuable Player recorded a rare 5×5. Unfortunately it also included his turnovers committed for the night, as he recorded an awful total of eight.
Harden played for 37 minutes on the court. He finished with 25 points, 11 rebounds, 17 assists and six steals. But it wasn't enough, though, as the Rockets dropped this contest to the Mavs, 128-108.
The Arizona product is coming off a monstrous performance Monday against the Washington Wizards. He scored 54 points to fire up Houston's offense, but yet they lost 135-131. That night, however, he also entered the double-figure mark in turnovers as he finished with 11.
Harden has been turning the ball over at an alarming rate this season. He has recorded seven or more in seven of the 17 games he has played this season.
“The Beard” is undeniably one of the best scoring forces in the league today, but it can be assumed that his turnovers are playing a role in the Rockets' slow start this season.
The Rockets currently have a 9-11 record and are out of the top eight in the Western Conference. They've lost four straight despite Harden scoring 33 or more in those outings.
Compared with last year, the Rockets start this season is terrible. They kicked off their 2017-18 campaign with a 16-4 record and went on to finish with a 65-17, the best in the NBA.
If Houston wants to find their rhythm back, Harden better take care of the ball.
