Amidst a 15-game losing streak, Houston Rockets' head coach Stephen Silas is in the hot seat. The team's last and only win this season came against the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 22. Since then, the Rockets have yet to win another basketball game and have a 1-16 record. Silas' coaching term in Houston may not last much longer, as there is serious concern as to whether or not he is the right coach for a rebuilding roster, per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

Silas entered the coaching conversation back in the 2020 offseason with the expectation to be part of a competitive roster. Stars James Harden and Russell Westbrook, along with general manager Daryl Morey, were all still part of the picture at that time. Yet all three foundational pieces ended up moving on, and Silas was forced to coach a team having minimal expectations for the near future.

In 72 games last season, Silas led the Rockets to a 17-55 record. This season isn't looking much better, with the majority of the playing time going to youngsters such as Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green. Houston also holds the league's worst offensive efficiency and assist-to-turnover ratio. While this certainly is affected by unexperienced players playing heavy minutes, it could also have to do with Silas' coaching. The team's offense has been noted to be turnover-prone and disorganized.

While the Houston Rockets are focusing on the development of young players, like potential superstar Jalen Green, they will have to decide whether or not Stephen Silas is the best man for the job.
