James Harden blew the roof off the Toyota Center after scoring a career-high 56 points, shooting an incandescent 19-of-25 from the floor and 7-of-8 from beyond the arc. Coupled with his game-high 13 assists, The Beard posted numbers that yielded the third-highest contribution in NBA history, accounting for 91 points of Mike D'Antoni's offense.

Following the game, it was only proper to put out the fire he started in a 137-110 blowout of the Utah Jazz, with teammate Eric Gordon facilitating the emergency measures during his interview.

But even after providing a nice post-game water shower, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year noted this is only the beginning for the West-leading Rockets, as the team has gotten in a groove following a three-game win streak.

“We can be better that’s the crazy part,” said Gordon, according to Alykhan Bijani of ESPN Houston. “We can be really better. We’re going to be good.”

The Rockets will need more performances of this caliber from James Harden if they hope to keep the ship afloat until Chris Paul makes his return.

The Beard has been back in mid-season offensive flow, picking up from where he left off last season during an MVP runner-up campaign.
