By now, every NBA fan knows about the drama involving the Philadelphia 76ers and guard Ben Simmons, who has since been traded to the Brooklyn Nets. While Simmons won't be playing in the highly anticipated upcoming game against the Sixers in Philly, there will still be plenty of eyes on the contest. Sixers head coach Doc Rivers was asked about the ‘rivalry' between Philadelphia and the Nets and made some interesting comments, via ESPN.

“I don't like how, let's say, this rivalry was started,” Rivers said with a smile. “I'll pass on all that, let me put it that way. But I love when there's rivalries. I love when there's teams that are in the same conference that want to play each other and go after each other. That's all good.

Rivers likely couldn't resist cracking the joke that he didn't like how the ‘rivalry' was started between the Sixers and the Nets but noted that he “loves when there are rivalries.”

Of course, Rivers is going to love this rivalry because it will be consistently featuring Simmons getting booed by Sixers fans. In all seriousness, Rivers is right.

This ‘rivalry' between the Sixers and Nets will be great for the NBA, as it will give fans of both teams something else to look forward to, aside from their already-exciting teams.

Not only that, but fans of other teams will now be tuning in to see how Simmons eventually fits in with the Nets, and of course, how he is received by Sixers fans, even if he isn't playing in the game.
