Because he’s still on load maintenance and is dealing with back tightness, Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid won’t be suiting up for Monday’s game against the Chicago Bulls in Windy City. This is according to Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia, who also reported about the injuries of other Sixers namely Trevor Booker, Markelle Fultz, and Furkan Korkmaz, and Justin Anderson.

It’s not yet clear whether Embiid would be available to play on Tuesday at home against the Sacramento Kings, but it’s likely he’ll be back in action by then following three full days of rest.

Joel Embiid doesn’t have the green light yet to play back-to-back games, as the Sixers are understandably being careful of the Cameroonian’s health. Embiid missed the entire 2014-15 season, his rookie year, due to a foot problem. He would also sit out the entire 2015-16 season after suffering setbacks and undergoing surgery on his foot.

Embiid had a huge workload during last Friday’s triple-overtime 119-117 home loss at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, scoring 34 points on 49 minutes played.

The former Kansas Jayhawk leads the Sixers in points (24.1), rebounds (11.0), and blocks (1.9) per game this season. And with him on the sideline against the streaking Bulls, who are on a five-game winning run, the Sixers will feature a frontline that is going to be temporarily bannered by Amir Johnson and Richaun Holmes.
