Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid is still recovering from a knee tendinitis that has caused him to miss the team's last four games. It is believed that he can play through the injury, but both he and the Sixers management are taking extra precautionary measures to protect him long-term, according to Serena Winters of NBC Sports.

The two-time All-Star has a history of serious injuries, including a meniscus tear that limited him to 31 games in his rookie season. Although he has made significant strides over the past three years, the Sixers would like to make sure that Embiid is ready for the postseason, where the team is expected to make a deep run this season.

Joel Embiid is currently averaging 27.3 points and 13.5 rebounds per game this year. He has become the Philadelphia's best and most important player, and having him play through injury is something that the team wouldn't like to take.

Philly is already sure to make it to the playoffs, and it is more important for them to protect Embiid because a serious injury for him at this stage could put the Sixers' championship hopes in a precarious state.

Embiid will sit out his fifth consecutive game when the Sixers play the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. The team hopes for Embiid to be back as early as next week.
