The Boston Celtics have engaged in trade talks for Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Though there has been interest and conversation, no serious trade negotiations have taken place at this point. If the deal were to go through, however, the Sixers would like to see rising star Jaylen Brown be in the deal. An All-Star last season, Brown has continued to display his valuable skill set this season, averaging 25.6 points per game along with 6.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists a night. Since his rookie year in 2016, the swingman has shown improvements and new facets to his game perennially.

Simmons, on the other hand, is an unhappy star stuck in Philadelphia. The 6-foot-11 guard is at a low point in his career after losing confidence in his ability to score and shoot the basketball. The LSU product has showcased no signs of improving his shot, especially his free throws.

Yet as the Celtics are off to a rough 4-6 start, president Brad Stevens recently admitted that he was not sure if the team he had was the best team going into the future. With the value of Simmons being extremely low, the Celtics could seriously consider taking a chance on the former All-Star in order to change the scenery in Boston. With a pass-first guard in Simmons to accompany the ball-dominant Jayson Tatum, the Celtics could arguably see more success as a whole.

As of right now, though, there's no evidence Brown is on the table. But stay tuned.
