Dejounte Murray was recently given the keys to the point guard position by none other than Gregg Popovich, and the 21-year-old has wasted no time being in the driver seat.

In his second start after being officially named the starter moving forward, the 6-foot-5 point guard went off with an impressive line that has only been matched once in NBA history, becoming the second player to record at least 19 points, 10 rebounds, and seven steals in 30 minutes or less since the iconic Fat Lever pulled it off in 1987.

Murray's athleticism and uncanny instincts at the defensive end are no subject of news, as the Washington product displayed them in full in the early get-go, drawing a few starts in the beginning of the season with Tony Parker on the shelf.

Parker appears a few speeds slower than he was during his prime, making Murray the obvious choice to carry the torch from here on.

While his playmaking abilities are still a work in progress with a 2.5 assist average this season, his rebounding is already ahead of the game, pulling down a whisker under five per game.

In fact, only former Spur Wiley Peck has averaged more rebounds per 36 minutes through his first or second season than Murray (9.6) has in 2017-18, according to Basketball-Reference.

Murray can easily develop into a jack of all trades within the Spurs system with his innate ability to score, defend, and rebound the ball consistently. His stat line against the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers only goes to show a glimpse of what he can become moving forward as the starter for San Antonio.
