The Pittsburgh Steelers boast the 12th ranked pass defense in the NFL but they'll be playing without one of their starting cornerbacks this Sunday. On Saturday, Steven Nelson was ruled out for Week 6 versus the Los Angeles Chargers.

Nelson sustained a groin injury in last week's contest against the Baltimore Ravens. Throughout the week, Nelson was a limited participant but apparently he didn't show enough to make the Steelers comfortable playing him on Sunday night.

With Nelson sidelined, Artie Burns will replace him at cornerback on the opposite side of Joe Haden. Burns was a former first-round pick for the Steelers that has disappointed since arriving to the team in 2016.

Earlier in the offseason, Pittsburgh decided to sign Nelson to a three-year, $25.5 million deal to be one of the starting corners on the roster. Up to this point, the former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback has been a decent addition to the defense.

Prior to his injury, Nelson had 21 tackles and two pass deflections in his five starts in the defense this season. Additionally, the Steelers cornerback has allowed 10 receptions on the 20 times he has been targeted this season.

Nelson isn't one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL by any means. But Pittsburgh will miss him in a game that they'll be tasked with slowing down Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.

Along with Nelson, the Steelers will kick off on Sunday Night Football without Mark Barron in the middle of the defense. Barron suffered a hamstring injury in Week 5 and was unable to get onto the practice field this week.
