A lot of the talk this NFL offseason involving Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown has been about his antics asking for a trade but former NFL quarterback Chris Simms has a different concern; he thinks he has lost a step.

Simms was asked if he would rather see Brown or Odell Beckham Jr. on the San Francisco 49ers and Simms thinks Beckham is the better fit because he hasn't hit his prime yet.

“In my own personal opinion — I watch a lot of film and break down teams and games and players — I thought Antonio Brown did lose a step a little bit this year,” Simms said via NBC Sports. “He’s still great, but he’s not the guy we saw three or four years ago. This is the age where receivers start to lose explosiveness and speed a little bit.”

Brown is 31 years old and that does seem to be the time when most wide receivers start to lose a step. There is no question that Brown is still a good player on the field, but with him losing a step and the off the field baggage that he carries with him, Simms thinks it's best the 49ers stay away.

“Antonio Brown works very hard. He’s a hell of a football player. I get all of that. And I know his work ethic is through the roof,” Simms said. “But the one thing I’ve always been told from people in Pittsburgh – players, coaches, front office people – is it’s all about Antonio Brown.

“At the end of the day, he doesn’t care if the Steelers win or lose. He just wants to know how many catches he had, how many yards he had. He is habitually late on a weekly basis. So he is a handful.”

The Steelers are looking for a trade partner to ship off Brown and they can't find one there is a chance they could just cut him. If that ends up being the case, it's clear that Simms doesn't want him around the 49ers.
