Running back James Conner had an injury-riddled season in 2019 that forced him to miss six of the Pittsburgh Steelers' contests. However, despite the injury woes, Conner is still confident in his game.

In a recent interview on the NFL Network, Conner spoke out on the durability concerns brought by his injury history.

“Man, all I can do is work,” the Steelers RB said on Tuesday. “You know, that's all I can do. And so that's what I've been doing and something I'm going to continue to do. I think year in and out I've shown that I've elevated my game in this league. You know, I didn't come in on fire. I had to sit and wait and watch. And so, I'm just going to try to continue to keep evolving over the years and not really pay attention to what anybody says. My faith is strong. My belief in me is strong.”

This past season, Conner first suffered a quadricep injury in Week 2 and later endured a shoulder injury in Week 8 that would plague the rest of his season. Amid the slew of injuries, the 25-year-old recorded only 464 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in 10 games.

Nevertheless, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin remain confident that James Conner will have a comeback season in 2020.

Conner will be on the final year of his rookie contract this season with the Steelers and is slated to hit unrestricted free agency in 2021. However, he has admitted that it would be hard for him to leave Pittsburgh.

It remains to be seen how 2020 will pan out for Conner. However, he knows very well that he has a lot to prove in the upcoming campaign.
