The Pittsburgh Steelers were finally able to secure the upcoming season with star running back Le'Veon Bell on Monday.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Bell has officially signed his franchise tender with the team.

Bell and the Steelers were unable to agree on a lucrative long-term deal before the deadline this summer leaving his future with the team uncertain. The 25-year-old back will have to wait until after the 2017 NFL season to strike up contract talks with the Steelers once again.

Bell, who is arguably one of the best players at his position in the NFL, is in the same situation as Kirk Cousins of the Washington Redskins. Both players are trying to secure their long-term futures with their respective teams but aren't exactly seeing eye-to-eye with the franchises they play for.

Apparently, Bell rejected a deal from Pittsburgh which would've had him earning $12 million a year. Although it would've once again made him the highest-paid running back in the game, the two-time Pro Bowler wasn't content with the deal.

Depending on his performance during the 2017 campaign, it'll be interesting to see how contract talks go in the NFL offseason and whether a long-term deal will be signed or another standoff takes place between the two sides.
