Transitioning to the NFL can be a challenge for any rookie. This is why it helps to have a familiar face around to help with the journey. That is certainly the case for Pittsburgh Steelers rookies Mason Rudolph and James Washington.

According to Chase Goodbread of NFL.com, the chemistry they had at Oklahoma State has carried over into the first few days of minicamp:

“I just know the way he moves, I know his catch radius and where I can put balls, how fluid of a runner he is,” Rudolph said. “I know how he accelerates and the way corners think they can discourage a throw by the cushion they give him. He creates a lot of separation on in-breaking routes. He's unbelievable.”

Needless to say, there is plenty of truth to Rudolph's comments. He and Washington connected for 1,549 yards and 13 touchdowns last season en route to All-American honors. It appears they are looking to keep it going at the next level in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers have done a tremendous job of acquiring talented wideouts through the draft. Based on Rudolph's comments, it seems this year is no exception. Washington now joins a receiving corps that is headed by the best in the business in Antonio Brown.

However, outside of wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, every other spot seems to be up for grabs at the moment after the Martavis Bryant trade. While it may be awhile before Rudolph makes his first potential start, Washington could be poised for an immediate role in the passing game.
