Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Mike Hilton is seeking a new deal. Therefore, he will not sign his ERFA tender just yet, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. However, Hilton will not hold out from the Steelers.

Hilton is coming off a 2018 campaign in which he played 15 games and registered 57 tackles, a sack, an interception, a couple of fumble recoveries, and eight passes defended.

The 25-year-old, who played collegiate football at the University of Mississippi, went undrafted but eventually signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in May of 2016. However, the Jaguars then cut Hilton a few months later, before the season started. He then joined the New England Patriots' practice squad in September of 2016.

The Patriots cut Hilton after just one week, and in December of 2016, he signed with the Steelers. He landed a reserve-future contract with Pittsburgh in January of 2017 and played all 16 games during the 2017 campaign, totaling 54 tackles, four sacks, a couple of picks, a forced fumble, and six passes defended in a surprisingly impressive season.

Hilton signed a one-year contract extension with the Steelers in January of 2018.

Pittsburgh went 9-6-1 this past season and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2013. The Steelers got off to a 7-2-1 start, but a late-season collapse filled with locker-room conflicts ultimately doomed Pittsburgh, allowing the Baltimore Ravens to sneak in and grab the AFC North Division title.

The Steelers had recorded four straight double-digit-win seasons before this past year, maxing out at 13 wins in 2017.
