Having played with Russell Westbrook the past three seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Steven Adams has seen first hand how Westbrook has further improved his game to become the MVP candidate that he is this year. That said, he recently made it known why he thinks his teammate should be the winner of the award regardless of what the other favorites are producing.

The 7-foot center was asked whether or not there should still be a debate on Westbrook deserving to win the league's highest individual honor. He responded by saying it doesn't matter to him and the team, as he is the “MVP in their hearts.”

The Brodie has already secured averaging a triple-double throughout the regular season during the Thunder's loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday. He is now the first player in 55 years to achieve the feat after Oscar Robertson did it in the 1961-62 campaign. Westbrook also has three more cracks at reaching 42 triple-doubles, which is the most in a season in NBA history.

Although there are some who think Houston Rockets guard James Harden should be named MVP, it will also be very difficult to deny Westbrook with it as he is having a season for the ages. More importantly, he has led the Thunder to the playoffs again this year, despite losing Kevin Durant last summer.
