Actress Sydney Sweeney threw out the first pitch ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox game on Friday. Sweeney did a great job with the first pitch… but Barstool Sports sent out a Tweet that did not age well.

The Red Sox went on to lose the game 28-5. It was the most runs ever surrendered by Boston and most runs scored for Toronto. The Red Sox received plenty of mockery and backlash on social media for their brutal effort. Even Sydney Sweeney joined in and roasted the Sox.

The actress posted images to her Instagram account with a caption that said, “they should've put me in.” And in all honesty, maybe they should have. Boston's first four pitchers combined to give up 27 runs alone.

The Red Sox have labored as of late. The team is sitting in fourth place in the AL East and are now just 2 games over .500. However, they need to remember that Friday's embarrassing performance is just one game. The Red Sox can still make a postseason run. But their confidence is likely at an all-time low following Friday's ball game.

The win was a big one for the Blue Jays, who are inching closer to the top spot in the AL Wild Card. Toronto has World Series aspirations and made a huge statement against the Red Sox in the lop-sided victory.

As for Sydney Sweeney, it may be a while before she returns to Fenway Park. The Red Sox surely wish she came to literally any other game than this one.
