Brooklyn Nets superstar small forward Kevin Durant addressed Team USA before practice on Thursday in El Segundo, California, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

Durant is still recovering from the Achilles tear he suffered in the 2019 NBA Finals. The two-time Finals MVP was wearing a brace to stabilize his leg. KD was on the 2016 Olympic team which won gold in Brazil.

Durant was probably trying to lift the spirits of Team USA. News leaked on Wednesday that the Senior Team USA squad lost to a bunch of G-League guys in a scrimmage.

Sacramento Kings swingman Harrison Barnes is the lone holdover from the USA team which won gold at the Olympics in 2016. The current roster has a lot of talent on it, but Team USA has a bunch of work to do if they want to bring home the FIBA World Cup for the third consecutive time.

The best players on the USA roster right now are probably Kemba Walker, De'Aaron Fox, Donovan Mitchell, Harrison Barnes, Jayson Tatum and Khris Middleton. It's up to these guys to make sure USA doesn't disappoint at the World Cup and embarrass themselves.

Hopefully, the speech Durant gave on Thursday will light a fire under the guys who are representing the United States.
