There are several NBA head coaching jobs still available, all of them have vastly different challenges. However, the New Orleans Pelicans' job may provide the most unique situation because of Zion Williamson.

Zion is one of the most unique players we've ever seen, and his career is just beginning. Sure enough, with his insane athleticism and basketball IG, the Pelicans would want to develop him as quickly as possible and further tap his other hidden talents.

With that said, choosing the right coach for Zion could very well dictate what the future of the franchise will be.

Now, on the daily Locked On Rockets Podcast, host Jackson Gatlin discussed the Pelicans' coaching vacancy and why Mike D'Antoni may just be the best candidate for New Orleans and Zion Williamson.

Jackson Gatlin: Imagine what Zion Williamson would be able to do in a Mike D'Antoni offensive system. If Mike could put the right players around him, the right pieces, the right amount of spacing around him so that he can flourish and have as much room as he needs to operate to drive and operate down low whatever he wants to do.

Mike D'Antoni is all about player empowerment. He takes his best players, usually guards, I will say I will preface it is usually with guards. However, it can just be a player who needs the ball in his hands. A player who is capable of steering the offense because they attract so much attention. Zion is exactly that. Zion is a playmaker, Zion can handle a basketball, he can be a focal point in a Mike D'Antoni led offense. Thinking about the Pelicans with MDA as a head coach is an interesting option. They'd be able to play super fast-paced basketball, they've got a lot of great pieces that would complement a Mike D'Antoni system.
