Robinson played for the Los Angeles Lakers last season. He averaged 5.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in 11.7 minutes per game over 48 contests for the Lakers.

Robinson, 26, has struggled to hold down a consistent spot in the league after being selected No. 5 overall out of Kansas in the 2012 draft. His inability to shoot from the perimeter hampered his chances of carving a niche in the NBA. He has played for six different teams during his seven-year professional career, mostly providing energy, effort, and strong rebounding off the bench.
Thomas Robinson will now join a strong Khimki team which features former NBA players Alexey Shved, who is the reigning league MVP, Sergei Monia, James Anderson, Charles Jenkins, and Malcolm Thomas. The team finished second in the VTB United League and reached the quarterfinals of the EuroCup.
