The Oklahoma City Thunder had quite an astounding summer. Despite limited assets at his disposal, general manager Sam Presti was able to acquire not one but two stars in Paul George and Carmelo Anthony in blockbuster trades to play with Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook, the NBA’s reigning MVP, is rightly appreciative of the job his GM has done, not just this year but ever since his tenure in OKC.

“He's done an amazing job. He's done a great job ever since I've been here,” Westbrook said per ESPN's Royce Young. “He's finding ways to constantly keep making us a better team. You know … you definitely are very, very thankful to have somebody like that in charge of making those decisions.”

The Thunder have not quite had the start they and many others were likely expecting with their newly-formed “Big 3” this season. Westbrook, in particular, has found it tough to rediscover last year’s MVP-winning form.

However, it’s definitely not because of a lack of support. Presti did his job by surrounding his superstar with much better teammates in George and Anthony. It’s now up to Westbrook, his teammates, and the coaching staff to make good on all their potential and start to put the pieces together.
