The Tennessee Titans suffered yet another significant loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16. As a result, their playoff hopes now hinge on a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2017 NFL season finale.

However, the Titans may have suffered another key loss with the knee injury to running back DeMarco Murray. That being said, despite being diagnosed with a third-degree MCL tear, Murray still hopes to play this Sunday, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter

While Murray's desire to play this week may seem a bit farfetched considering the severity of the injury, head coach Mike Mularkey has yet to rule DeMarco Murray out versus the Jaguars.

By way of Jason Wolf of The Tennessean:

“I’m not going to rule him out just yet, knowing DeMarco, knowing some of the other things he’s had happen to him and how quickly he responds to treatment,” Mularkey said. “So I’d say he’s day-to-day right now and I just hope for the best. Maybe in a limited role. We don’t know yet.”

That said, it seems even Mularkey is willing to admit the Titans will need all the help they can get this week. Despite Jacksonville's bonafide playoff status, Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone was adamant about the team doing whatever it can to win in Week 17.

Aside from the playoff implications at stake, there is little reason for the Titans to want the veteran Murray to risk any further damage to his knee. Especially when they have such a formidable backup in second-year running back Derrick Henry.
