Taylor Lewan is turning to a familiar highlight as a recruiting tool to bring Jadeveon Clowney to the Tennessee Titans.

As his way of lobbying Clowney to consider signing with the Titans, Lewan posted a GIF of Clowney's iconic hit and fumble recovery on Michigan running back  Vincent Smith while playing for South Carolina in the 2013 Outback Bowl.

Lewan and Clowney were on opposites sides of the field during the bowl game, and the famous play was certainly not one of Lewan's finest moments as a run blocker.

Lewan clearly has a good attitude about the play, though, and hopes the two “could be teammates now”.

In 2014, Lewan told reporters that he didn't mind the play being a perennial inclusion in highlight reels:

“You can only control what you can control and whatever ESPN or NFL Network wants to put on their air is up to them,” he said. “It was not my fault. I hate to say it like that because it's like I am blaming other people, but it was a double-team between me and the guard on the backside linebacker.”

Six years later—or at least for the purposes of helping improve the Titans—it seems as if his attitude hasn't changed.

Clowney, 27, remains the most prized free agent left on the market. He has reportedly received offers from his incumbent team, the Seattle Seahawks, as well as the Cleveland Browns. He posted three sacks in 13 games for Seattle in 2019.

In April, Titans GM Jon Robinson acknowledged that the team had connected with Clowney's reps, though there have been no updates on that front since.
