If the New Orleans Pelicans part ways with head coach Alvin Gentry, they could go after Los Angeles Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue or Los Angeles Lakers assistant Jason Kidd, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Gentry has one year left on his contract with the Pelicans.

“Executive VP David Griffin and Pelicans ownership have a decision to make with a year left on Alvin Gentry's contract, sources said. Consider two relationships Griffin has back to his front-office days in Cleveland and Phoenix, respectively, if there's a change in New Orleans: LA Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue and Los Angeles Lakers assistant Jason Kidd, sources said.”

Now 65 years old, Gentry has been with the Pelicans since 2015. After New Orleans defeated the Washington Wizards on Friday, Gentry improved to 175-222 with the Pelicans in the regular season. He's won five playoff games in nine tries as well.

Lue, who won the 2016 championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers, has a career winning percentage of .607, though much of that has to do with the fact he coached LeBron James on the Cavs.

Kidd, meanwhile, went 183-190 with the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks after his Hall of Fame playing career ended. He was fired by the Bucks in January of 2018.

The Pelicans' future is centered around Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Jrue Holiday. Williamson's health moving forward is going to be a big question, but it appears the head-coaching situation in New Orleans could be as well.
