The UNC Tar Heels shocked college basketball on Wednesday, but none more so than the Michigan Wolverines who were on the receiving end of a massive drubbing.

North Carolina proved they are a team to be feared after taking down the Wolverines in dominant fashion, 72-51. It was still a close contest after the first half, as it was in the second half where things went south for the No. 24 ranked Michigan side.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, UNC registered the largest win ever by an unranked squad against a ranked Michigan team. The Wolverines clearly came in as favorites in the game, but the Tar Heels proved they are no pushovers despite being unranked.

Caleb Love and Armando Bacot led the way for UNC in the blowout. Love top-scored the team with 22 points, while Bacot had a monster double-double of 11 points and 14 boards.

North Carolina scored just 29 in the first half to Michigan's 27, making the game seem like it's headed to an intense finish. However, that was far from the case as UNC exploded with 43 second half points on 58 percent shooting to run away with the victory.

The Wolverines simply had no answer for that as they ended up scoring just 24 in the said half. It also continued their recent rough run, having lost to Arizona and Seton Holl over their last four games prior to Wednesday's contest.
