Under Armour is absolutely crushing it, and the sportswear company is giving all of the credit to Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, according to Yahoo News. Although CEO Kevin Plank gave plenty of shout outs to golfer Jordan Spieth, quarterbacks Tom Brady and Cam Newton, and Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps after a booming first-quarter earnings report, he always returned to Curry.
The reason? Curry’s sneakers. They’ve continued a rocketing upward projection, and they’re boosting Under Armour to beat all sales expectations. The company’s revenue has risen 30 percent to $1.05 billion, and Plank made the obligatory joke about the percentage increase, which matches Curry’s number.

Under Armour has been boosted mainly by footwear from two superstars, Spieth and Curry. The company is expected to top $1 billion in all four quarters this year, mainly due to the fact that the Curry 2 is outselling every other model of basketball shoe besides Jordans. In Plank’s opinion, Curry has helped Under Armour win over “the hardcore basketball kid.”
This is Under Armour’s 20th year in business, and they’re no longer the new kid in town. Just like their front-runner Curry, the brand is starting to make its mark.
