USC basketball has struggled in recent action. They are just 8-9 overall in what has been a mediocre season at best so far. Bronny James has also endured his share of struggles, and USC coach Andy Enfield revealed the plan for James moving forward.

“I know he’s … going through a little streak of some missed shots,” Enfield said Tuesday, via Luca Evans of The Orange County Register. “But we want him to take every open shot he can, and put pressure on the defense by driving it.”

Of course, James is dealing with no shortage of pressure. When your father is LeBron James, expectations are destined to be incredibly high. Bronny is still adjusting to playing basketball at the college level, however.

Bronny James' 2023-24 season with USC basketball

Bronny James is averaging 5.2 points per game across 17.9 minutes per contest. He is also shooting 34.8 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from beyond the arc. Additionally, James has recorded averages of 2.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.

He's displayed signs of promise at times. Although, it is clear that James is still trying to figure things out at the college level. Nevertheless, the future remains bright for James.

Enfield previously addressed Bronny James' slump as well.

“All players go through stretches where they make and miss shots,” Enfield said previously, via Paolo Uggetti of ESPN. “It's a process.”

USC clearly still believes in James. They surely understand the pressure he is dealing with, and will continue to give him opportunities to impact the team.

Again, as mentioned earlier, James has enjoyed some impressive moments this season. He received praise from guard Kobe Johnson in early January as a result.

“He's starting to be more confident as a player,” Johnson said, via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. “And he's starting to play his game. When he first got back, he was on a [tighter] minutes restriction and he [was] kind of antsy about what to do. But now he's starting to get into his groove and starting to become the player that everybody knows he is.”

There is reason to believe that Bronny James can emerge as a star down the road. At the moment, though, James is focused on trying to break out of his slump.
