Slapping butts in the NBA is as ubiquitous in the game as a foul. It’s a harmless gesture that has become part of the basketball culture. Boston Celtics Marcus Morris even did that to a referee on Saturday during a game against the Toronto Raptors.

Morris was called for a technical foul late in the game after having a verbal joust with Raptors forward C.J. Miles. Morris would pick up another technical foul, when he started to talk trash with DeMar DeRozan. This was where it got interesting – and hilarious— as Morris gave the referee a tap on the backside just before he headed for the Celtics’ locker room.

Morris’s ejection did not, of course, affect the outcome of the contest, as he was tossed out with only 10 seconds left on the game clock of a 110-99 Boston win. Marcus Morris actually had a good game against the Raptors, as he led Boston with 25 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the field and 10-for-11 from the free-throw line to go with nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in 25 minutes of action off the bench.

The victory also extended the Celtics’ unbeaten streak to six games. Moreover, it also cut the Raptors’ lead for the No. 1 spot in the Eastern Conference standings down to only two games. With six outings left on their regular-season schedule, the Celtics surely have a clear shot at stealing the top seed in the conference from Toronto.

The Celtics will look to stretch their win streak this Tuesday against the Milwaukee Bucks on the road.
