The Minnesota Vikings may have defeated the New York Jets on the road on Sunday, 37-17, but they’re going home with some hurt players. Among them is cornerback Xavier Rhodes, who was carted off the field with an ankle injury, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Rhodes was visibly in a great deal of pain as he needed to be assisted on his way into the sidelines, a sight that doesn’t bode well for his Week 8 availability. He injured his ankle while defending Jets wideout Robby Anderson with less than nine minutes remaining in the game.

However, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said that Rhodes’ injury isn’t as troublesome as it looks, per Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press.

“I think he’s got a sprained ankle,” Zimmer said. “I don’t think it’s a big deal, but we’ll see.”

Rhodes, who had three tackles against the Jets, was just one of three Minnesota starters to leave the contest with an injury. Left guard Tom Compton and linebacker Anthony Barr also left the game prematurely because of knee and hamstring injuries, respectively.

In the event that Xavier Rhodes is going to need to miss time to heal from his injury, the Viking will likely turn to Holton Hill to take over his starting spot temporarily. Hill stepped in for Rhodes against the Jets and recorded an interception off of San Darnold.

The Vikings play the pass-heavy New Orleans Saints in Week 6 at home.
