The Minnesota Vikings have started the year 2-1. Despite that, they find themselves in third place in the NFC North division. Clearly, they'll need a fully-stocked roster if they want to compete in this tough division.

Due to that, the news of a pretty severe injury to a key player in their offense can't be good. That's exactly what they got though. According to Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com, wide receiver Chad Beebe has torn ligaments in his ankle.

It's unclear how long Beebe will be out for, mainly due to the fact that it hasn't been decided if he'll get surgery or not.

No matter the case though, this is a tough blow for the Vikings. Not only was Beebe their number three receiver, but he was also their punt returner. Now they're looking for replacements for both of those slots.

To this point in the year, the Vikings have been more of a running team than anything. That being said, they paid Kirk Cousins for a reason.

The quarterback has Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen at his disposal. Those two create arguably the best receiver duo in the NFL. They also give the other targets a chance to get open, as they'll be taking most of the secondary's attention.

However, Beebe had just two receptions on two targets (for 70 yards) to this point. Again, this contributes to the offense clearly leaning more towards the run at the moment.

It looks like the offense will be continuing that running trend, as their receiver corps thins out even more.
