Three Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks, including Kirk Cousins, ended up on the Covid-19/reserve list earlier in training camp. It irked head coach Mike Zimmer, especially since Cousins was outspoken prior about being remaining unvaccinated.

It got to the point where the Vikings brought in renowned epidemiologist and infectious disease expert Dr. Michael Osterholm to speak to the team. Following the meeting with the team, Cousins spoke on the matter.

While the Vikings' QB1 was complimentary it's the end part, where he says “And it was what it was,” that will stick with people. It makes it sound as though the talk from Dr. Osterholm didn't sway Cousins into changing his mind about the vaccine. But, it wouldn't be fair to put those words in Cousins' mouth.

Cousins raised eyebrows earlier this offseason when he suggested that players who aren't vaccinated should be surrounded by plexiglass when in the team facility. The idea didn't catch on with the Vikings.

It was last year in the middle of the pandemic that Cousins appeared on Kyle Brandt's “10 Questions” podcast and said, “If I die, I die,” in reference to potentially getting the virus instead of wearing a mask around everywhere. He later clarified those remarks and said he didn't blame anyone who chose to wear masks around.

For the Vikings and Cousins, they will hope that this all goes away by the start of the season but that's unlikely as the questions continue to roll in.
