Kirk Cousins dropped to 0-9 on Monday Night Football with the Minnesota Vikings losing to the Green Bay Packers, but that wasn't a storyline that coach Mike Zimmer wanted to get into. Zimmer was clearly frustrated after the game and the last thing he wanted to talk about was the storyline that was the most talked-about leading into the showdown.

I’m not going to get into this ‘Kirk Cousins on Monday night’ thing and all this stuff,” Zimmer told reporters via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Heading into the game Zimmer had said the record wasn't all about Cousins and that proved to be the case again on Monday. There is no doubt that Cousins struggled, but the running game and the offensive line didn't do any favors, especially in the second half as Cousins very rarely had a clean pocket which led to the offense getting nothing going.

“Offensively we didn’t play as well as we can play, I’ll say that,” Zimmer said. “And defensively we could have played the run better. So there’s a lot of things that we need to clean up.”

With the loss the Vikings are now locked into the sixth seed which means they are will be going on the road for their first playoff game. Another narrative that has followed Cousins around has been his inability to win big games on the road.

If he could lead the Vikings to a win on Wild Card weekend, he could get all the doubters to be quiet. But he is going to need to play better than he did against the Packers.
