Poor Kirk Cousins.

The Minnesota Vikings quarterback has gotten off to a disastrous start in 2019, most recently completing 27 of his 36 passes for 233 yards and no touchdowns in a 16-6 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

After the game, wide receiver Adam Thielen took a subtle shot at Cousins, saying the following:

“At some point, you're not going to be able to run the ball for 180 yards, even with the best running back in the NFL,” said Thielen, according to Chad Graff of The Athletic. “That's when you have to be able to throw the ball. … You have to be able to hit the deep balls.”

Ouch.

Fox Sports analyst and Hall of Fame tight Shannon Sharpe could not resist piling on with a response of his own on Twitter:

Remember: during the final game of the season last year, Cousins and Thielen got into a heated sideline argument, so this nothing new.

On the season overall, Cousins has thrown for 735 yards, three touchdowns and a couple of interceptions while completing 64.6 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 88.6.

The 31-year-old is in the second year of a three-year, $84 million deal with the Vikings.

In his first season, he threw for 4,298 yards, 30 touchdowns and 10 picks while completing 70.1 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 99.7.

Cousins spent the first six years of his NFL career with the Washington Redskins, becoming the full-time starter in his fourth season and making a Pro Bowl appearance in 2016.

Minnesota dropped to 2-2 with the loss to the Bears.
