Chad Beebe is not a household name by any stretch of the imagination for NFL fans. There is a good chance that most Minnesota Vikings fans have no idea who he is. That being the case, Beebe is going to be active and suited up for the Vikings this week against the Detroit Lions.

According to a report from Courtney Cronin of ESPN, Beebe was elevated to the active roster. It could be due to the rib injury that star wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been dealing with. Diggs could very well end up missing this week's game.

For those who have no clue who Beebe is, the article gave a brief rundown of him.

Beebe, a rookie from Northern Illinois and the son of former NFL receiver Don Beebe, joined the Vikings via a tryout in May. He was released Sept. 1 after catching 10 passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns during the preseason and was placed on the practice squad one day later.

Looking at his preseason numbers, Beebe actually had a decent performance. It sounds like he may have impressed some front office personnel, which led to him landing on the practice squad and now being on the active roster.

Standing in at 5-foot-10 and 183 pounds, Beebe is not going to be an intimidating presence for the Vikings' offense. He is a possession receiver, who has shown the ability to make plays when given chances.

All of that being said, the Vikings are hoping that Beebe won't have to play a big role this week. If Diggs is forced to miss the game, Laquon Treadwell and Aldrick Robinson will be asked to step up. Kyle Rudolph will also receive a much bigger workload than he has had so far this season.
