Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs has removed Vikings photos from his social media, which has led some to believe that he may be on his way out of Minnesota.
But Tom Pelissero of NFL Network says this is really just a case of “Diggs being Diggs.”
Pelissero says the Vikings will certainly not be releasing the wide out, and that while some other teams may call inquiring about a potential Diggs trade, the odds of Diggs actually being dealt are pretty long.
The 26-year-old is under contract through 2023, so Minnesota doesn't really have any incentive to move him.
Remember: earlier during the 2019 campaign, Diggs didn't show up to work for a couple of days and was clearly unhappy with his situation, as he was not getting the ball a whole lot and the Vikings' offense was struggling.
However, once Diggs returned, everything went back to normal, as Minnesota went on a roll and Diggs played a significant role in that, finishing with 63 catches for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns on the season.
The Vikings proceeded to win 10 games to capture a Wild Card berth in the NFC playoff picture and then defeated the New Orleans Saints in an overtime thriller during the Wild Card Round. They ultimately fell to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round the following week.
As Pelissero notes, this is a Minnesota club that is ready to win now, so ridding itself of Diggs wouldn't make too much sense.
Diggs has spent the first five seasons of his career with the Vikings.
