The Golden State Warriors looked wounded entering their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night, and they came out of it looking even more scarred.
Despite star Stephen Curry playing impressively, the Warriors have now lost four of their five games. Their 129-114 defeat against the Timberwolves dropped them 43-19, with the Memphis Grizzlies breathing down their necks for the no. 2 spot in the Western Conference.
Curry scored 34 points for the Warriors but didn't shoot the ball efficiently, going 5-of-16 from beyond the arc. After the game, the two-time MVP didn't offer any excuses. In a report by ESPN, he instead pointed out their lapses, particularly on the defensive end.
“Nights like tonight where you just don't play a good brand of basketball defensively to give yourself a chance to win on the road against a team that you allow to have life all night, you're not going to win a lot of games that way.”

The Warriors, who were missing Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Nemanja Bjelica, allowed the Timberwolves to shoot 52.8% from the floor. Karl-Anthony Towns and company also scored 34 points in each of the first two periods.
On the other hand, Curry had to bleed for his points, as he was hounded by the Timberwolves' attack dog Patrick Beverley all game.
It remains unclear when Thompson and Green will return for the Warriors, so that means Curry will have to hold the fort even more, and perhaps get better on the defensive side of things.
