Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal made a lot of headlines following their win against the Toronto Raptors last Thursday. He commented during the post-game interview that “everybody eats” on their team when they move the ball well. Many interpreted it as a shot to his teammate, John Wall, but he has recently cleared the air about it.

This year's first time All-Star made it known that he did not mean that and he thinks having Wall with the Wizards makes them a better team. Beal then added, via Chase Hughes of NBC Sports, that he only wanted to use the quote from a movie.

“For us to say that we're a better team without John it's, like, that's comical in a sense. Come on, let's be real,” Beal said.  “The guy's the head of our franchise, a five-time all-star. Let's be realistic. I think what benefits us is we figured out how to play without John. Reality is reality… We're not sitting here saying we're a better team without him, by no means.”

“On top of that, I was quoting a movie. I don't know if anybody saw ‘Paid In Full' but I was quoting a movie. Everybody eats. Everybody has success. Everybody gets a touch.”

Back in the offseason, there was a lot of talk about Beal and Wall apparently not getting along well which is a distraction to their team. However, they have remained teammates and are even playing better this year together, being named both All-Stars in the same season for the first time in their careers.

Wall is currently recuperating from a knee procedure he underwent and will miss the next six to eight weeks. The good news is that they are continuing to win, including four in a row now, which keeps them in the hunt for one of the top three seeds in the Eastern Conference. Beal's comments could serve as encouraging news for his teammates that he and Wall do not have any feud going after also acknowledging him as their leader.
