Washington Wizards superstar has gained a new fan in his Team USA head coach Gregg Popovich. The San Antonio Spurs iconic mentor was visibly surprised about the physique of Beal as the 2020 Olympic Basketball squad started their training camp in Las Vegas earlier this week.

Contrary to his prior notion of the Wizards star, Beal is actually way more bulky and muscular than he originally thought according to Pop himself.

“He's stronger than I expected. He's a strong young man. I always used to think of him as wiry and thin, but I was totally wrong. He's thick,” Popovich said on Wednesday (via Yahoo Sports).

Beal, who stands a little under 6-foot-3 and weighs around 210 lbs, is definitely not ‘wiry and thin' – as Pop put it. The three-time All-Star has proven in his time in the NBA that he's one of the strongest superstars in the entire league. Whether he's knocking down impossible threes or driving hard to the hoop, Bradley Beal is definitely as tough as it gets.

“His movement. He is hard to keep up with. Whether he's coming off of back-picks or he's running the pick-and-roll or he's coming off a single, double sort of situation; his balance and his movement both are very impressive. He stops on a dime, he can pull up and shoot the shot,” Popovich added.

The 28-year-old was nothing short of spectacular once again this season for the DC-based squad. Beal, alongside new teammate Russell Westbrook, brought Washington back to the postseason after missing it in back-to-back seasons. Now, he has a chance to shine on the world stage as Team USA hopes to bring home the gold from Tokyo this summer.
